John Stone, NSW Corps, Second Fleet 1790

John Stone was a private in the NSW Corps he was located in NSW before Mar 1791 when he deserted the corps, being recovered a month later. John married Dinah Miell/Miles (Convict, Pitt 1792) 9 Mar 1795 at St Johns Parramatta with the permission of Captain William Patterson.

Their son Robert Maell (Miles) was born May 1793 Parramatta region, baptised 1793 St Johns Parramatta. In 1795 he held a land grant at North Brush in Field of Mars district (Ryde). Continue reading

Lawrence Lewis, NSW Corps, Britannia 1798

Lawrence Lewis, born Dublin 1772. He enlisted into the 102nd regiment in 1796 in England, traveling to NSW aboard the Britannia in 1798.

He first travelled to Norfolk Island aboard HMS Reliance in Nov 1799, at some stage he returned to Sydney. Then again travelled to Norfolk Island aboard HMS Buffalo in May 1803 as a private in the NSW Corps, departing Norfolk Island aboard the Investigator for Sydney in Feb 1805. Andrew Fishburn, Private, Royal Marines 35th Portsmouth Company, Alexander 1788

Andrew was born c1760 in Whitby Yorkshire, England. He arrived in NSW with the Royal Marines 35th (Portsmouth) Company with the rank of Private. He served with Captain Shea’s Company as part of the Port Jackson Garrison. Andrew embarked aboard HMS Sirius for the voyage to Norfolk Island, disembarking on 13 Mar at Cascade. Continue reading
