Two gypsy girls who found themselves on the shores on Sydney Cove in Oct 1792 each with a new born baby in their arms along with seaman Thomas Dargin.Loveridge is well known Romany Gypsy surname. There are a few ties to Norfolk Island (of course) with marriages of the first generation of both Mary and Priscilla Loveridge. And let’s not forget about the Sydney Orphan School, the Pubs and those few white lies from the past family writings. Some of the research from both old and new, lead me on a tangent or two with the complex array of primary records. It is fortunate that this project was undertaken at a time of increased technology and digitisation of records as many of these were not easily accessible previously. It is from these that I have been able to really solve the mystery and mix-up of both Mary and Priscilla Loveridge’s children of the past.
