Charlotte Burrows nee Loveridge (1792 – 1837)
New research for our publication Gypsy Girls: Mary and Priscilla Loveridge: Royal Admiral 1792 has proven that Charlotte Loveridge, born on the voyage to NSW of the Royal Admiral in 1792, is the daughter of convict Priscilla Loveridge, not her sister/cousin convict Mary Loveridge as previously believed. This was questioned by some, including myself, in the late 1980s.
In 1801, Charlotte now aged 9 years may well have been one of the 31 girls, not all of whom were orphans, between the ages of seven and fourteen years were enrolled at the commencement of the Sydney Female Orphan School on 17 Aug 1801 located in George Street Sydney. Charlotte eventually married Richard Burrows (born on Norfolk Island who departed Norfolk Island on the City of Edinburgh 1808) at Hobart in 1817.
