1805 VB NSW Corps Norfolk Island

Robert Hall, NSW Corps, Scarborough 1790

Robert was born Feb 1770 Bristol, Somerset England, he enlisted into the NSW Corps in July 1789 in England, arriving in NSW the aboard Scarborough in 1790 with the rank of private.

He was promoted to Corporal in c1800. He most likely travelled to Norfolk Island aboard the Hunter in July 1800 with Joseph Foveaux NSW Corps Company. Robert held the rank of from as early as 1801 – 1804. He served on Norfolk Island for five years, returning to Sydney aboard the Union in March 1805. Continue reading

John Armsworth – Harmsworth, Child of Marine, Prince of Wales 1788

John Aimsworth Drummer of the NSW Corps is actually John Armsworth – Harmsworth, Marine Child, Prince of Wales 1788, son of Thomas and Alice Harmsworth. He was born 1 Dec 1787 aboard the Prince of Wales, on the voyage to NSW. John arrived on Norfolk Island Oct 1791 with his mother, sister Ann and step father Daniel Stanfield aboard the Atlantic. Samuel Marsden, NSW Corps, Surprize 1790

Samuel Marsden was born 1769 England. He arrived in NSW aboard the Surprize 1790. He first travelled to Norfolk Island aboard the Supply in Apr 1791, returning to Sydney and was again travelling to Norfolk island aboard the Kitty in Feb 1793.

On Norfolk Island he formed a relationship with Rachael Early (Convict Friendship 1788). Rachael Early had married John Price, Convict Alexander 1788, on 1 June 1788 St Phillips Sydney. There were no children from the union. They were both sent to Norfolk Island aboard the Golden Grove in Oct 1788, and were living at Queensborough on Norfolk Island.

George Clark, NSW Corps, Canada 1801

George Clark was born in Marylebone London; he arrived in NSW aboard the Canada in 1801 with the 102nd Regiment.

George travelled to Norfolk Island aboard HMS Buffalo in May 1803 holding the rank of private with other members of the NSW Corps. He returned to NSW aboard Lady Nelson in May 1806, travelling to Port Jackson. In Apr 1810 he was transferred to the 73rd Regiment with the rank of Sergeant.

John Robinson, NSW Corps, Royal Admiral 1792

John Robinson born Oxford England enlisted into the NSW Corps 6 Mar 1791 in England, and almost immediately was board the Royal Admiral for its voyage to NSW.

Whilst the Royal Admiral was docked at Gravesend 20 soldiers from the NSW Corps joined her on May 14. However records on exact numbers do vary – David Collins wrote 1 Serg. 1 Corp. 19 privates belonging to the NSW Corps as arriving on the Royal Admiral.
